About LSEM

LSEM was founded in 1873.  For more than a century LSEM served as a residential school for children who were deaf.  But when the needs changed we changed too.  Our name was changed from Lutheran School For The Deaf to Lutheran Special Education Ministries in 1990.  We are a Recognized Service Organization of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod but we serve other Christian denominations as well.
