Learning Differences in the Church

Language Based Learning Disabilities

Language skills permeate everything children do. Information in this brochure can help you recognize the signs and struggles associated with language-based difficulties and provide strategies for helping students.

   

Attention

Students with attention issues display behaviors that are warning signs for many learning issues. Strategies indicated in this brochure have proven to be beneficial in meeting the learning needs of these students. You’ll also find information about the signs to look for in children who have attention-related learning disabilities.

   

Lower Grades: PK –2nd

Welcome to Sunday school and the world of young children! You will find this brochure helpful as you experience challenges as well as opportunities for growth and joy for both you and your students. Included are suggestions designed to help teachers understand when a child may need special assistance, as well as strategies to follow in the classroom.

   

Middle Grades 3rd - 5th

You have the joy of teaching children at such a wonderful age. This brochure will give you helpful ways to present information as these children are developing some maturity in their thinking, behavior and learning and yet they still have some of the wonder of childhood bubbling inside. The helpful tips about how to create a learning environment and teaching children who have learning difficulties should be especially useful to teachers.

   

Upper Grades 6th – 8th

Adolescence is a roller coaster of emotions and learning experiences for children and the adults who are near them. Imagine how much more complex and confusing this time can be when special learning needs are present. This brochure will provide valuable information about how to present class materials in ways that will help students with learning difficulties.
